Is this of all things what’s finally going to stick to the teflon lady, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton? Did Hillary Clinton intimidate the Bangladesh government as a favor to a personal friend and Clinton Foundation donor?
Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R) of Iowa, has opened a new investigation into Hillary Clinton’s activities as Secretary of State, to determine whether Clinton inappropriately meddled in a Bangladeshi corruption probe to help a personal friend and Clinton Foundation donor.
Senator Grassley said:
“This new evidence of pay-to-play and special treatment reinforces the appearance that donations to the Clinton Foundation resulted in favorable treatment by Secretary Clinton’s State Department.”
The Daily Caller was first to report Senator Grassley’s new investigation after first publishing a piece in May reporting that Clinton had sent top U.S. State Department diplomats to put pressure on Bangladesh’s Prime Minister Sheik Hasina, and her son Sajeeb Wazed, as the Bangladesh government led a corruption probe into the activities of Clinton Foundation donor Muhammad Yunus.
Yunus founded and led the country’s Grameen Bank and whose micro-finance concept to alleviate poverty in developing countries won him the Nobel Peace Prize in 2006. He faced allegations of corruption, overcharging customers, and exploiting the poor, but was later cleared of the charges.
But the interest and involvement of Secretary Clinton and other State Department officials, along with the fact that Yunus is a donor to the Clinton Global Initiative and Clinton Foundation, inviting Grassley’s suspicions, resulting in this latest Congressional investigation into Hillary Clinton for corrupt political activities, particularly in this case, “pay to play.”
Yunus has donated between $100,000 and $250,000 to the Clinton Global Initiative, the annual Clinton branded gathering of policymakers in New York, plus another $25,000 to $50,000 for the Clinton Foundation.
Grassley wrote in a letter dated June 1 to current Secretary of State Rex Tillerson:
“If the Secretary of State used her position to intervene in an independent investigation by a sovereign government simply because of a personal and financial relationship stemming from the Clinton Foundation rather than the legitimate foreign policy interests of the United States, then that would be unacceptable.”
Grassley also said:
“Co-mingling her official position as Secretary of State with her family foundation would be similarly inappropriate. It is vital to determine whether the State Department had any role in the threat of an IRS audit against the son of the Prime Minister in retaliation for this investigation.”
Also in the letter to Tillerson, Grassley said that Hasina had confirmed that Hillary Clinton herself had called her office in 2011 to demand that Yunus be restored to his position at the bank!
Amazingly, the Bangladesh president’s son Wazed has also said that he was pressured to push his mother to end the investigation into Yunus and that State Department officials even went so far as to threaten him with an IRS audit if he didn’t call his mother off the investigation!
Maybe some of her emails during this time were some of what Hillary Clinton was hiding on that private email server. Grassley attached a number of heavily-redacted emails to his exchange with Tillerson, requesting the originals to be handed over to the Senate.
